What is LED light therapy?
From the first treatment, LED therapy instantly boosts the skin's complexion to restore vitality and glow. A treatment course offers cumulative benefits and can target specific skin concerns for the face and body with lasting and visible improvement.
This fantastic device can target various skin concerns such as acne and breakouts, psoriasis, fine lines and wrinkles, dull skin, pigmentation, rosacea and sun damage.
LED light therapy can also help to promote wound healing, boost collagen and elastin production, destroy bacteria and relieve muscular and joint pain.
Dermaplaning: will my hair grow back thicker and darker?
The hair will grow back but won’t change in colour or thickness. New skin cells will also grow back, eventually becoming dead skin cells, but this can be solved again with quick and regular treatment.
The only time a person’s hair can change colour or thickness is due to hormonal changes or an imbalance. For example, some women have seen their hair thicken due to menopause. But whether you shave or use a dermaplaning tool, your facial hair will regrow the same as it did previously.
I want my lips done but don't want to look 'ducky'. Is this possible?
We will always be honest and upfront with clients about the most realistic approach to achieve a natural result.
Is it true that if I have botox over time and stop, I may get saggy skin and look older than before I started?
No, this is not true. Botulinum toxin relaxes your muscles, temporarily reducing lines and wrinkles. Having regular treatments reduces and prevents static line formation. It’s a perfect prevention for a client in the early stages of ageing in their late 20s and 30s and an excellent rejuvenation treatment for clients who already have static lines and second stages of ageing in their 40s-50s. If you were to stop having treatments, you would simply return to how you were before having any treatments.
What are your best top tips for rejuvenation?
Hydration is key to not only feeling well but also looking well. Hyaluronic acid absorbs water and can have an impact on the longevity of your treatment. Your skin will feel so much better if you stay hydrated. In addition, your body will be functioning to its best if you are hydrated. It would help if you aimed to drink 2-3 litres of water daily to see the benefits mentioned above.
Should I wear sunscreen daily, and if so, which SPF?
If you begin to protect your skin early on, you will reap the rewards. Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers and, in a high percentage of cases, could have been prevented by protecting yourself from the sun's harsh rays.
Wearing sunscreen regularly will also help to prevent sunburn and premature ageing and helps to even skin tone. So make sunscreen a part of your daily routine, even on cloudy days.
Do I need a consultation?
We will usually undertake your consultation at your appointment for other treatments, such as dermal filler. This is because we find these can be done effectively at the appointment time, however, if you wish to speak to your aesthetic practitioner ahead of your appointment, please submit an enquiry, and one of our team will get back to you.
Dermal filler: what aftercare should I be doing?
- Depending upon the area(s) treated and product(s) used, you may feel “firmness” in the treated area(s) for 1 to 2 weeks after treatment. Over time, the area(s) will soften and “settle”.
- Apply an ice or cold gel pack to the area(s) treated (avoiding pressure) as this helps reduce swelling and the potential for bruising.
- Once you have adequately cooled/iced the area(s) as instructed and any pinpoint bleeding from the injection site(s) has subsided, you may begin wearing makeup.
- Avoid placing excessive pressure on the treated area(s) for the first few hours and up to 2 to 3 days; when cleansing your face or applying makeup, be very gentle.
- Avoid exercise or strenuous activities for the remainder of the treatment day; you may resume other normal activities/routines immediately.
- You may take simple analgesia if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort if these are not contraindicated for you.
- Avoid extended UV exposure until any redness/swelling has subsided. You may want to apply an SPF 50 or similar sunscreen.
- Wait for a minimum of six weeks (or as directed by your provider) before receiving any skincare or laser treatments.
Will Botox make my face look frozen?
To ensure that you receive the most natural outcome, it is recommended that you are treated by an experienced professional who will take the time to assess your facial structure accurately, determine the amount of Botox® required (or whether you need it at all) and which area's on the face will receive the Botox® effectively.
Our team are highly qualified and fully trained in administering Botox®. In addition, nurse April Meredith is also heavily experienced and an expert in women's facial anatomy; as such, you will get the best and safest treatment for your face at Meredith Medical.
who should avoid botox?
- Pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers.
- Patients with certain conditions affecting the connections between nerves and muscles (such as Myasthenia Gravis and Eaton-Lambert Syndrome).
- People with a previous allergic reaction to botulinum toxin or with allergies to egg or human albumin.
- People taking aminoglycoside antibiotics (such as clarithromycin, gentamicin etc.).
- Anyone with a skin infection in the area to be treated.
- Patients should exercise caution when taking blood-thinning medication such as Warfarin, Rivaroxaban and Clopidogrel, simply due to the possibility of severe bruising.
Botox: When should I begin treatments?
Despite popular belief, it is considered sooner the better as Botox is an anti ageing preventative. However, whilst there is no particular age limit, those with deeper wrinkles may benefit more from dermal fillers instead of Botox®. A full consultation with Nurse April will help ascertain the most suitable course of treatment to meet your needs.
Botox: When will I see the effects after treatment?
Effects may take up to 2 weeks post-treatment to be fully appreciated, though this can be sooner. Re-treatment is usually recommended at least every 3 months, although this can vary from person to person ranging from 2 to 5 months on average.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid, naturally occurring in the body. Its most vital role is absorbing water and transporting nutrients to the skin, ensuring the structure and volume are maintained. During the ageing process, the production of HA in the body decreases, and as such, the skin loses volume and elasticity. Dermal fillers help to re-volumise the skin by injecting HA back into various areas of the face.
Dermal fillers: When can I expect to see results after treatment?
The effects of dermal filler are noticeable immediately after the procedure, although they may look more exaggerated to begin with, due to swelling. These effects are long-lasting, non-permanent and reversible. Generally, most clients return for a follow-up treatment approximately every 6-12 months. However, some prefer to return sooner if they want to gradually build up a fuller appearance (which we usually recommend with lip filler patients to achieve a more natural, fuller look).
Dermal fillers: Are there any side effects?
Most reactions are generally temporary and minimal. All patients are assessed for contraindications ahead of treatment to minimise and avoid any reactions taking place. You should still expect some swelling and may experience some slight bruising; however, these reactions are expected to subside within a couple of days. Your practitioner will advise the best aftercare and management for this during your appointment.
Lip fillers: What outcome should I expect?
Lip filler for lip augmentation is a dermal filler treatment for the lips. It has many benefits, varying on technique, but most of all, it can add volume to thin lips, correct uneven lip shape, smooth out smoker’s lines and be used to treat scars on the lips. What is and how does Deso Fat Dissolving work?
The area of concern is injected with Deso to liquefy (and permanently destroy) fat cells. It is separated into concentrations for the face and the body and is an effective treatment for double chins, love handles, inner arms, stomach fat, inner thighs, knees and more.
While Deso is not designed to treat obesity, the injectable treatment is a successful solution targeting specific areas.
Deso Fat Dissolving: How many treatments do I need?
Usually, a course of 3 or 4 treatments is required at 4-6 weekly intervals. For example, patients would need between 2 and 4 treatments to treat double chins. The number of treatments required depends on the amount of fat to remove and will be discussed at your consultation.
Deso Fat Dissolving: Is it painful?
As with all injectable treatments, many patients feel a slight discomfort; however, it is generally considered painless, and the discomfort is tolerable. Deso does contain a local anaesthetic which helps with patient comfort.
Deso Fat Dissolving: Are there any side effects?
Deso fat dissolving can result in inflammation, swelling and redness at the injection site, making the treated area feel sensitive following your appointment. However, you may continue with day-to-day activities and physical activities as usual.

Patients should avoid hot showers and baths on the day of treatment and wear a compression garment (such as Spanx) for 72 hours afterwards. After that, however, you can continue day-to-day activities and exercise as usual.
